PSHE

As a part of your child’s education at Bishop Luffa we promote personal wellbeing and development through a comprehensive Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education programme. PSHE education is the curriculum subject that gives young people the knowledge, understanding, attitudes and practical skills to live safe, healthy, productive lives and reach their full potential.

PSHE education is taught throughout the school in every year group and is monitored and reviewed regularly by the staff and Directors. All PSHE teaching takes place in a safe learning environment and is underpinned by our school ethos and values. Details of our PSHE curriculum can be found below.

Many of you will be aware that the Department for Education (DfE) has made changes to the requirements placed on schools regarding ‘Relationships and sex education (RSE) and health education’. After a detailed consultation process, we have updated our Relationship and Sex Education Policy in line with the new government requirements.

To reflect the distinctive Christian vision of our school we have adopted the principles shared in the Church of England Charter for RSE and used it to help us in the review process. We have also drawn on best practice and guidance from the DFE, PSHE Association and the Diocese of Chichester Education Department.

We continue to welcome any questions the attached charter raises for you about the nature of your child’s relationship and sex education.
