On Monday 27th January 2025 Bishop Luffa School was invited to the Houses of Parliament to collect a Democracy Award, which was linked to the voting that students had been involved in at school for the West Sussex Youth Parliament back in early 2024. The award was delayed due to the General Election last year.

Isaac McDonald (11Wilson), Mary-Jane Zwinkels (11Ridgeway) and Emily Burt (11Burrows) went up to London to represent the school and receive the Award. They were given a fantastic tour of the Houses and Westminster Hall by Edmund Legrave, who is the Parliamentary Assistant for Jess Brown- Fuller MP, before going to the Atlee Suite in Portcullis House to receive the Award from Tom Rutland, the MP for East Worthing and Shoreham.

After receiving the Award we all went back to the Houses of Parliament to watch the Speakers procession, which included our Alumni Ugbana Oyet, the Serjeant at Arms of the House of Commons, before going in to see both Houses sitting and debating.
