Bishop Luffa Shines at Schools Sailing Week

The annual Schools Sailing Week at Itchenor Sailing Club was a fantastic display of skill, teamwork, and perseverance. Out of the 96 boats competing, 12 were from Bishop Luffa, showcasing both seasoned sailors and enthusiastic newcomers.

This national event posed a significant challenge, with gusts reaching over 20 knots. Despite these tough conditions, all Bishop Luffa participants demonstrated exceptional determination and competitive spirit. It was particularly impressive that even those experiencing their first event managed to complete all seven races over the two days, a testament to their resilience and commitment.

The remarkable camaraderie within the Bishop Luffa team was evident throughout the competition and embodied the school's ethos of teamwork and mutual encouragement, with each sailor not only pushing their own limits but also supporting their peers. The students were clearly committed to enjoying themselves and making the most of this incredible opportunity.

Bishop Luffa's sailing prowess was highlighted by two boats securing spots in the top ten. Isla Hill (9Otter) and Isabelle Tonks (10King) finished 10th. Jack Gardner (10Otter) and George Long (10Otter) also achieved an outstanding 9th place. Given the high calibre of the competition, all of the Bishop Luffa placements were commendable and reflect the skill and determination of our sailors.

Overall, the Schools Sailing Week was a memorable and successful event for Bishop Luffa, reinforcing the school's reputation for excellence and sportsmanship.
