Election time at Bishop Luffa School

Thank you everybody, especially Year 12 politics students, for your contribution to making as much as possible of the General Election.

This week, we have had election hustings, where all five parties were represented, outlined their policies and took questions from an eager crowd. All week, Connect assemblies have been connecting good governance with God’s common grace. Then on General Election Thursday, students had the chance to practice voting in our own mock election. Ballot papers, polling stations and voting booths gave everyone the chance to vote for the party of their choice.

After a late surge, I can announce that if Bishop Luffa were a constituency, the Liberal-Democrats would be representing us in parliament.

With a 35% turnout, the results are as follows:

  • Conservative Party - 7.84%
  • Labour - 21.32%
  • Liberal Democrats - 34.31%
  • Reform - 21.81%
  • Green Party - 14.71%

Congratulations to Lib Dems, Isabel, Freya, Maisie and Caitlin and thank you everyone for taking part!

Mr M Luff, Teacher of Politics
